NEWS FROM THE OFFICE
As we near the end of November, here is some
information for Parent-Teacher interviews.
Our Varity Girls and Boys Volleyball Teams are
going to Provincials.  The dates of provincials
fall at the same time as Parent-Teacher
interviews.  Mr. Kindle, Mrs. Popple and Mrs.
Young will be away both Wednesday and
Thursday evening.  If you require an interview
with these people, please make arrangements
before or after interview dates, they will be
happy to accommodate your requests.  Mrs.
Popple sent a letter home with her students.
Parents, if you have not received it, please
check with your student.

We, as the Admin. Team at Souris School,
would like to thank all who attended the PAC
meeting on Monday evening.  Your concerns,
questions and input helped us create a positive
situation for all students at Souris School.
Once again, thanks.

Report cards were sent home on Wednesday.
See you at interviews.

As always, if you have any questions or
concerns, please feel free to call me directly
at 483-6230.  Have a great weekend and we
will see you on Monday.

MANITOBAíS CELEBRATION OF
EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING ñ MINISTERíS
AWARDS
Each year the Manitoba Government gives out
awards in Celebration of Excellence in
Teaching. In direct quotation from their
website ìThe awards aim to recognize the
work of Manitobaís outstanding educators
whose exemplary contributions enhance
student learning and achievement. Most of us
remember at least one educator who stood out
among the many who had an influence on our
lives ñ someone who encouraged, guided and
inspired us to do our best. Educators can have
a profound influence on student learning and
achievement in and outside of the classroom,
helping them to achieve their goals and to
realize their dreams.î

We believe that some of the educators they
speak of are at Souris School. If there is a
teacher or an administrator that you would
like to see recognized in one of the following
categories, please forward their name to one
of us, no later than November 26th. A
nomination committee has been formed to
consider the nominations received, fill out the
necessary forms required by the selection
committee, and send it in for consideration
prior to the December 21st deadline.

 These are the award categories:
?         Teaching Excellence
?         Outstanding New Teacher
?         Team Collaboration
?         Outstanding School Leader

Teaching Excellence
Three awards will be presented: one to an
Early Years teacher (K-4), one to a Middle
Years teacher (5-8) and one to a Senior Years
teacher (9-12). If a nominee teaches at more
than one level (ex. K-12 music teacher), the
evidence and examples on the Nomination
Support Form must focus on the level for
which the teacher is nominated.

Outstanding New Teacher
One award will be presented to a new teacher
with a maximum of two years teaching
experience as of June 2009.

Team Collaboration
One award will be presented to a team of
teachers (maximum of three) from K-12.

Outstanding School Leader
